Background
Mobile Scheduler is mobile app redesign for Henry Schein One users, primarily dentists & dental office managers to better monitor their schedules & patient information on the go.
On April 3rd, 2018, Internet Brands (also own DemandForce) and Henry Schein formed a new Joint Venture company, Henry Schein One, and together utilizing technology from both sides to deliver better user experience to dentists around the world.
Role: Product Designer
Project Status: Design Handed Off
Why a mobile redesign?

The current design for Dentrix mobile scheduler is outdated and very difficult to use for its users. Read More
Target Audience
• Doctors & Hygienists
Primary audience: doctors and hygienists who are trying to check schedule remotely or outside the office.
• Office Manager & Front Desk Person
The secondary audience for this project is office manager or front desk person who work at a dental office but want to use a tablet as a support to their desktop.
Problems
1. When doctors or hygienists are out of office, they often have a hard time using current Dentrix Mobile to check schedules. There is no easy way to toggle between hygienists’ schedules versus doctor’s own personal schedule or schedule of the other doctors in the office.
2. There was no option to toggle between list view & calendar view with original Dentrix Mobile.
3. Searching for patient information is difficult & users tend to have a hard time navigating back to previous task.
How did you do this project?
Heuristic evaluation
Current mobile experience for Henry Schein is functional however very outdated. I did a heuristic evaluation of the app & uncovered some major issues that could be categorized as areas of improvements for us to focus on later on during design.
Summary of New Features
Appointments Tab
• View “My Appts” VS. “My Patients”
Appointment tab is the first thing a user will see when they sign into their account. As a doctor, I would look at “My Appts.” for all my appointments today. However, as a doctor I can also look at “My Patients” tab for all of my patients who have listed me as their provider & are coming in for an appointment today but not necessarily will be seen by me personally.
• Toggle between “List View” vs. “Calendar View”
Giving users the control over viewing appointments in a shorter list view or calendar view could help users have better understanding of that their daily schedule is like.
• Tile Information
Tapping on each tile will lead to appointment information page where user can view more details related to the patient & their upcoming appointment. Tile also display Operatory number (Example: OP-1), provider code (Example: DDS 1), and Procedure type (Example: Fillings).
• Date Picker
Clicking on the date will take users to date picker that pushes up from the bottom & takes up the whole page so to minimize the chance to make mistake & help users focus on the task as well identify quicker the date they’re searching for.
• Appointment Details
This page will automatically show users their patient’s upcoming appointment information and the option to view any past or future appointment information.
